Course Description

There is an increase in awareness of the need for light protection, with 70% of people say that protecting their eyes and eye health is more important now than ever. Additionally, the latest research in eye health reinforces the importance of light protection and the impact unprotected overexposure can have on our vision. Transitions XTRActive lenses are very popular with eyeglass wearers who are very sensitive to light and are the #1 clear-to-extra dark photochromic lens. Wearers seek out Transitions XTRActive lenses because they have a strong desire for extra light protection and a superior visual experience. The new generation of Transitions XTRActive lenses is specially designed to deliver the best extra darkness and the best extra light protection that very light-sensitive eyeglass wearers and people who are exposed to intense bright light desire. The darkest in hot temperatures, in the car, and offering the best overall blue light protection across light situations* among clear to extra dark photochromic lenses. *Protection from harmful blue light (380nm-460nm) among polycarbonate and 1.5 gray lenses: blocking (i) up to 34% indoors at 23°C, (ii) up to 64% behind the windshield, (iii) up to 90% outdoors at 23°C and (iv) up to 83% outdoors at 35°C.

Ryan ParkerDr. Ryan Parker, Director of Professional Development, Essilor. Dr. Parker graduated from the Oklahoma College of Optometry at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma in 2004. While in school he was honored to be elected as President of The American Optometric Student Association and much enjoyed his time serving the national student association. He opened Ardmore Premier Eyecare in 2007. In 2018 he joined Essilor full time as the Director of Professional Development. Dr. Parker has been featured in many articles and television interviews talking about various programs and technologies that Essilor utilizes to achieve its mission of improving lives by improving sight. He has lectured extensively on practice management, spectacle lens technology, and myopia management to numerous eye care professionals.
